Colorado Outfitted Hunts

Colorado Outfitted Hunts

Not only do we have the gratification of trekking across some of the most amazing landscapes God has created, but we also have the pleasure of pursuing some of the most amazing big game species. Though a majority of our guided hunts pursue the majestic rocky mountain elk due to the relative ease of acquiring tags, we also have a strong population of mule deer, Shiras moose, rocky mountain big horn sheep and mountain goats.

All of our Colorado big game hunts require applying for and acquiring a limited hunting license through Colorado Parks and Wildlife online application. Some hunts require more preference points than others and we are happy to get you pointed in the right direction and choose what hunt is right for you. Whether you have already accumulated enough preference points for the hunt of your choice, or you are ready to start that process, we can help you get there and walk you through the steps.

Colorado Mule Deer Hunting

Colorado Mule Deer Hunts

Colorado Mule Deer Hunting

It's no secret that the Gunnison Basin grows some of the biggest bucks in the west! Since we spend countless days in the field in the summer and fall, we are always locating big, mature mule deer.

Our Colorado mule deer hunting guides know where the big boys live and scout throughout the summer to find them. Your guide, along with AEI Outfitter staff, will field dress and pack out your mule deer trophy for you.

We are located in a haven for giant trophy mule deer. The Gunnison Basin and Colorado Game Management Unit 55, GMU 54, GMU 551, GMU 67 are some of the most sought after mule deer units in the country.

The Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife manage our areas for high buck to doe ratios which allows some our bucks to make it to maturity.  The Gunnison basin deer herd is managed to give you a chance at finding older age class, mature bucks. You have a legitimate chance at finding deer in the 165"+ inch Boone and Crockett range. Over the years, we have successfully harvested bucks over 200".

Since 1984 AEI Guide and Outfitter has been guiding mountain goat hunters through the high country of Colorado for the ultimate encounter with these rugged trophy animals. Let AEI Outfitter guide you on an adventure and experience of a lifetime chasing goats above treeline in some of the most breathtaking landscapes to be found anywhere! We will have a great working knowledge of goats in various basins and a hunt plan in place once you arrive.

Plan to arrive in good shape and ready for longer distance shooting as these willey and rugged beasts of the high country live in some very steep and rugged terrain. Generally, we will have base camp already set up for you, high in the alpine basin and will help hike you and your gear in for an adventure of a lifetime. We guide and hunt in Mountain Goat Game Management Unit (GMU) G3, which has a 1st and 2nd rifle season, and GMU G2.

Colorado Moose Hunts

Colorado Moose Hunts

Colorado hosts some of the best Shiras moose hunting in the west. Our central Colorado area (GMU 55) grows older Shiras bulls . Since the reintroduction of moose to this part of the state in the early 2000's, the moose population has thrived and grown exponentially. We regularly see Boone-and-Crockett sized Shiras moose wandering the haunts of Taylor Park. In 2016, Colorado Parks and Wildlife decided to give our area a couple of coveted shiras moose tags to be drawn by public hunters. Though any moose tag will likely take many years to draw and you need a bit of luck, you always have a chance if you have at least 3 moose points going into the draw. If you have ever dreamed of a hunt for Shiras moose, and are blessed to draw this coveted once-in-a-lifetime tag, then call AEI Outfitter for an adventure that you will remember forever.
