AEI's Base Camp is located on Illinois Creek in the Taylor Park area of the Gunnison National Forest. While our guides are happy to set up a meeting place and time to take you to some of our honey holes, we can also provide lodging and hardy meals. Our full guide services take care of all transportation to and from fly fishing locations.
Our guide service reveals some of the best "sweet spots" in the Rockies. Over 100 miles of mountain rivers, creeks, lakes and countless beaver ponds provide our clients with the opportunity to catch a variety of rainbows, brooks, browns and cutthroat trout.
Our float fishing experiences are on the renowned Gunnison River. We offer half-day and full-day float fishing trips. 1 or 2 person(s) per boat. If you have ever wanted to experience a float trip, this is a fantastic alternative to traditional walk-wade trips. Prime fishing season begins in June and continues through September. AEI Guide and Outfitter is a licensed member of the Colorado Outfitters Association and is also bonded and insured in Colorado.

AEI Fly Fishing Details
AEI Outfitter offers guided float fishing trips on the upper Gunnison River and walk wade trips on the Taylor River, the East River, the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River and many other streams throughout the Gunnison and Crested Butte Valley. Our professional and experienced guides work hard to help you have an epic fishing experience. Our goal is simple, that by the end of your time with our guides, you will be a better fly fisherman. We love not only seeing the rod bent, but helping you grow as a fly angler.
Reservation and License Information:
To make a reservation, 50% of the estimated cost is required as a non-refundable deposit. Balances can be paid with cash, traveler's checks, cashier's check, or credit card.
Fishing License Information:
All general season licenses and day licenses may be purchased at any licensed agency throughout Colorado or online at CPWShop
Lodging Options:
AEI Guide and Outfitter offers comfortable and accommodating cabins in Taylor Park. Our Cabins are ideally situated in the heart of the Gunnison National Forest and close by many streams, rivers and lakes. It has a picturesque view of the Continental Divide and many trout streams within its boundaries. Because of its remote location, the lodge utilizes alternative energy systems. Meal plans may also be available to add to your fly fishing vacation package. The meals are good home cooking and are served with big appetites in mind.
Although AEI Base Camp cabins are remotely located in the heart of the Gunnison National Forest, our facilities are equipped with everything needed to make your stay an enjoyable one!
